About the song

Paul Desmond wrote Take Five for Time Out, the Dave Brubeck Quartet's 1959 album built on unusual rhythms. Columbia expected the album to flop. Instead, Take Five is often called the first jazz single to sell a million copies. This film catches the quartet five years later on stage in Belgium, with a piano solo that isn't on the record.
